1990 Nissan Silvia Q’s Diamond

Stock Number: 4378

The clean styling, rewarding drive, and top tier engineering are all synonymous with the S13. Any chassis that is produced for nearly a decade must be good, and today’s market values reflect that. This 1990 Q’s Diamond is finished in perhaps one of the most unique color combos, two-tone Silver/Gray (6G0) and is in great shape. The combo is made out of KG1 Silver and 463 Gray which makes for a killer look. Other than the routine little door dings and scratches associated with any 30 year old vehicle, the body is straight and the clear coat is still very lustrous. For the most part, this S13 has been kept stock with the exception of a set of adjustable coilovers since the stock ride height looks goofy, to say the least. While the original wheels are fine, you’ll be hard-pressed to top a set of 16″ Watanabes when it comes to a classic. A truly classic Japanese wheel for a truly legendary chassis.

With only 86K verified miles, it comes as no surprise that the interior is in well above average condition. While the interior has been described as low frills, but don’t confuse that with being low cost. The basics were fine, and the S13 features an adjustable column, power locks, windows, mirrors, and automatic climate control. All of the creature comforts make for an easy daily driver yet cut down on needless accessories that will eventually fail. The seats and fabric were both well cared for which is refreshing. The bolstering is supportive, without feeling restrictive, and is comfortable for longs cruises. The driver’s seat shows only minimal wear to the bolster but is free of any tears or stains. The same can be said about the passenger and rear seats which show hardly any signs of use. The door panels are in excellent condition which is great since they are prone to delamination over time. Arguably the most impressive bit is the fact the dash is completely crack free. Those familiar with the S13 know that its an issue that plagues just about everyone on the road today. There is a solar-powered air cleaner mounted atop the gauge cluster which makes for a fun little piece of Japanese technology.

The CA18DE under the hood delivers decent fuel economy and is known for its durability. What this coupe lacks in raw horsepower it makes up in curb appeal and chassis feel. As the saying goes, the S chassis is the best chassis! If anything, this vehicle is a prime example that you don’t need outrageous horsepower to have fun. When you pair the torquey little two-liter up with the 4-speed auto it makes for a surprisingly fun pair. Since the gearing is a bit different from the 5-speed cars you stay in the powerband more. And for the times you want to get on it a bit more the trans does have a selectable power mode which will hold you in gear longer. There’s also a hold feature which is some of the first variants of the semi selectable gearboxes we’re more familiar with today. The trans engages quickly and shifts are pleasantly crisp. With the new suspension setup, the car handles fantastically, as if it didn’t already. A new set of tires also helps in the traction department along with a new air filter and a routine oil change. Now that it’s been fully serviced its new owner shouldn’t have anything to worry about for quite some time. This nimble chassis doesn’t need gobs of power to be fun. Thanks to its lightweight, high revving, nature this would make for an ideal daily driver. Or take the build route as this is the perfect candidate for a swap with how clean it is. The decision is yours to make.
