1992 Honda Del Sol SiR Trans Top
For all of the Honda fans out there, we just got in this slick little Del Sol SiR. This well preserved 1992 landed with only 118K miles on it. Finished in one of the most instantly recognizable colors for this chassis, Milano Red (R81.) The body has been kept in excellent condition free of any notable dents or dings. The paint shows equally well with no clear coat peel or fading. The exterior has been kept all stock and really does look great. The factory 15″ “snowflake” wheels make for a nice touch that you don’t see often in the states. With as hard as these cars are becoming to find clean and unmodified this one is a real standout.
The interior shows just as well as the exterior does. The seats have been kept up well and quite comfortable despite the slim appearance. The color matched insert makes for a subtle touch that really pops. Fitted from the factory with a Momo steering wheel and matching shift knob add to the sporty feeling the Del Sol embodied. Peering behind that at the 8200 RPM redline makes it a bit of a challenge to keep your foot out of it, so you’ve been warned. The interior really shows little signs of wear, the only things to note are a small hole in the driver seat bottom and some wear one the original shift knob. Otherwise the interior is free of any notable rips, tears, or stains. The SiR has lockable rear storage compartments behind the seats which is a nice little bonus due to the physical size you’re working with. The original radio has been replaced with an aftermarket single din and can easily be replaced with a more USDM compatible radio. All of the power amenities function as they should including the window lock for the passenger and rear glass. The automatic climate control blows nice and cold.
Under the hood the B16A has been kept mostly all stock. A Mugen 4-1 header was installed which adds a nice tone but isn’t overbearing since the rest of the exhaust is still factory. The 1.6 liter is a hearty power plant rated at 170hp, in such a light car makes it a blast to throw around. The Trans Top was only offered in Japan which is a power version to the removable targa top. This SiR appears to have really been cherished by it’s previous owner based on how great it’s been kept up over the years. All of the original books and service records were included from Japan. The 5 speeds shifts fantastic and has a very easy clutch engagement. Honda did an excellent job with the gearbox, the throw is very precise right out of the gate. With the combination of Honda reliability mated to a proper sports car design what more could you ask for?
